Spain considers a time change

Driving East-West across Spain you may see roadside markers that highlight the location of the Greenwich Meridian. While Spain is in the same time zone as places like Germany and Italy, the vast majority of Spain is actually west of Britain, which is an hour behind Europe.

This may explain in part why Spaniards do everything so late, like eating dinner at 10:00 PM. The clock may say 10:00, but the sun says it's really much earlier.

Spanish officials are considering rolling the time zone back to be the same as that in Portugal, Britain, and Ireland, after a report indicates that it may improve work and sleep patterns, and reduce stress. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24294157
