Belgium, a country well-known for their production of chocolate products, celebrates their history with a limited edition of chocolate flavored postage stamps.
Paris' Notre-Dame cathedral received a new set of bells for it's 850th anniversary. A 19th century set, the ones that would have been rung by Victor Hugo's Hunchback, had gone out of tune.
The original bells of the cathedral were melted down during the French Revolution. The cathedral was also deconsecrated during that period, and refashioned by the revolutionary government as a "Temple of Reason," dedicated to the ideals of atheism and humanocentrism, "when henceforward there would be one God only, The People." The next year they unleashed the Reign of Terror.
