Located near the small town of Usk, in South Wales the Glen-Yr-Afon is a thoroughly charming small hotel, in a rural setting just outside the town. There's an excellent restaurant on site, but central Usk is just a 10 minute walk, where you'll find more options.

One of the city’s most historic hotels, the entry is directly opposite the cathedral façade. Superb staff, but the underwhelming room decor looks like something from the late 1950's, a little too much 'pastels and flowers' for my taste, though not all of the rooms suffer from this. Rooms run from smallish, with views into the internal courtyard, to large rooms with terraces and views of the cathedral.
