Not bad for some old kitchen decor.
A few months ago a woman in France discovered that the painting that had been hanging over her kitchen stove for decades was actually created by 13th century Italian painter Cimabue.
The painting was valued at €6 million, but stunned everybody — including the owner, I'm sure — by selling for €24 million at auction.
On your next trip, will you be taking a closer look at those old paintings while browsing the local brocante market?
I was in Spain last week, and attempted to visit the Valley of the Fallen with one of my small groups on October 19. There was a large police presence at the entrance to the Valley, where a very friendly Guardia Civil officer apologized, and informed me that the site was closed.
We suspected that it was for just this reason, though it seems that Franco's remains weren't actually exhumed and removed until October 24th.
