One of Amsterdam's most famous 'tourist attractions' may be about to be radically changed.
Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum will be marking the 350th anniversary of the death of Rembrandt with a special exhibit featuring works by the artist. More than 20 paintings, 60 drawings, and 300 prints will be on display, tracing the life, loves, temperament, and innovations of the famed painter.
Next summer Rembrandt's The Night Watch will receive a little spa treatment, courtesy of Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum, where the painting is displayed. Fortunately for visitors, the painting will remain on display throughout the restoration process. Thanks to a digital platform, you can also watch the restoration process on-line from home. Find out more about the planned restoration work.
